Some Fall Decor

I just finished making this cute runner for the hutch in my living room. I'm loving this fall, goldish, mustard yellow and it is really making my house feel like the season it is!

Cute Nightgown

I simply can't explain what I feel in my heart for my
late maternal grandmother.
She is the reason I sew, the reason I upholster
and the reason for a lot of other things.
That being said, she was a professional and a perfectionist
and I am trying to be more like her every day.
She sewed more in the last days of her life than I could possibly get to in a lifetime and
people simply loved her stuff.
There are a few coveted patterns around the family
and while I would never want to take her place,
I'd love to be able to re-create some of the amazing things that she made for me,
my sisters
 and my cousins
when we were kids
This is totally my grandma
I'm glad my little girl seems to love hers as much as I loved mine when I was a kid.
I still remember feeling like a princess every single night.

Newly Reupholstered Sofa and Loveseat

I couldn't be more excited about my latest project!
It's only part of the reason I haven't been blogging this month however.

Here are the old ones... nice and nappy... but free!
Here are the new ones, that I love, Love, LOVE!!!

I worked with a professional on this project and have lots of good advice and words of wisdom for anybody interested in trying a reupholstery project! I've done 8 or 9 of them now so I'm finally starting to get the hang of it!

Feel free to email me with any questions.

Kitchen Aid Cover

One of my sisters called and asked if I would make her a kitchen aid cover.

A few days later she called back because she was so excited about it and she asked me,
"Are you making one for you too?"
I laughed and answered, "No, why? They are kind of silly!"

She responded that hers gets dusty to which I laughed even harder and replied,
"Yea, I use mine so often that it wouldn't have a chance to get dusty!"
However, that being said... it is kind of cute....

(Maybe I will make one for me!)

From Skirt To Sun Dress

I haven't posted for over a week!
The shame!
(I've been out sick... just a cold, but a mean one!)

Time to get back in the saddle again.

I took an old skirt of mine and made it into a summer dress for my little girl.
I love how it turned out
and I love the detail in it.

I even used the zipper that was already in the back of the skirt and just
moved my pattern to place it perfectly in the back of the dress.

Crib Sheet

One of the easiest and most necessary part of bedding, is the crib sheet.

They are simple to make so you can do your own.
Take a few measurements
(or buy a pattern)
and there you go.

Custom to go with any of your kids bedding

BETTER Ties

So, I wasn't happy with the first ties I did.
They're a little cheap, and tacky looking.
(They "look totally homemade" as my sisters would put it.)
So, I succumbed to consumerism and bought a dang pattern.

Thanks to MakeItAndLoveIt and her awesome etsy shop, it was a breeze.
I got it the next day and look how cute these ties are?!

I *heart* them.

(I know it'll turn into an obsession.)
I've already made about 10 and I've got 20 more cut out.

It must be great to be a friend or family member of mine!

Boys Ties

I want my kid to look good when he's all dressed up...
but of course, I don't want to pay $15 for a toddler tie!
So I did a little research.
There isn't exactly a TON of info on how to do a kids tie so
I took everything I did find,
and jammed it all together in my head
and I think I figured it out.
Most of the directions I found suggested tying a Double Windsor
(I can't get it right so the husband gets to be involved with this project)
from the smaller side,
trimming the rest off,
and then creating a neckline that is adjustable.
(Velcro is the key here)
I did that, and then couldn't bear throwing the rest of the tie away.
I'm working on making the larger end smaller
and coming up with some kind of a Windsor looking knot
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Kids Playhouse

This wasn't my idea, but whoever came up with it was brilliant.
My adaptation was making it to fit my kitchen table.
Goes up and comes down just as easy.
My kids love it and we've even had a family camp-out in it!

Flirty Apron

This is a twist on the flirty apron...
(cause the ruffle is only on the bottom)

I made it up and was so happy with the outcome.
So easy to do.
Email me if you need help, have questions or are looking for tips.

Easter Basket Goodies

I wanted some great stuff for my kids Easter Basket this year
without spending a fortune.
So I made pajamas
Way fun huh?
I'm thinking I'll do some sun dresses as well,
add some sandals, some bubbles, eggs and candy
and we're set!

Boys Room Curtains

Just had to show off the great curtains I did for my sons room.
It's the perfect steel blue that I got at Home Fabrics
for $2 a yard!!! What a steal!
I just need a black lining I think... to keep a little more light out.
Maybe he'll start sleeping-in in the mornings.

Pick-Me-Up

If you're needing a pick-me-up in one of your rooms,
try curtains.
Find your fabric cheap,
(I got mine for $3 a yard!!!)
hem them all the way around,
and hang them with rings on a rod
and you've got a transformed room!
I love mine!
